The 24th annual Newmar International RV Rally is taking place on the Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen, Ind., this week.

The rally officially started Monday night with the opening ceremonies and will last through Friday.

According to Kristine Ambrosen, marketing director for the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds, at Monday’s ceremonies, Mahlon Miller, principal owner of Newmar Corp., spoke of the hope he had for the RV industry coming back and included it in his prayer.

Nappanee Mayor Larry Thompson also spoke and praised RV companies, including Newmar, in the area that have not “thrown in the towel” but are keeping the businesses open and employing residents.

Ambrosen said the Newmar Kountry Klub has more than 5,000 members. Five hundred units were driven from across the country to Goshen for the event this week.

Barney Barnett, Kountry Klub International director, said, “Our numbers are down (from past rally events), but we are encouraged.”

Newmar is showcasing some new units and there is a full slate of activities scheduled through Friday.
