The Michigan State Police (MSP) have recovered 17 stolen trailers valued at about $600,000.

MLive.com reported that detectives from Lagrange County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana contacted the MSP Tri-City Post to request assistance with locating and recovering the stolen trailers. Lagrange detectives opened an investigation after several RV manufacturers in the area reported thefts of trailers from their facilities, according to MSP.

Some of the stolen trailers were retagged with bogus VIN numbers and were sold to unsuspecting businesses in other states, including Michigan.

The travel trailers were tracked to Huron Trails Auto Sales in Linwood. Officials with Huron Trails auto sales cooperated fully with the investigation and are considered victims of this crime.
