Iowa dealership Ace Fogdall RV Center has joined the ranks of RV dealerships that are bullish enough about the industry’s future to make a major investment in new facilities.
The Cedar Falls company is investing “more than $3 million” in a new showroom and service center at U.S. 20 and Iowa Highway 58. It is expected to open in March, said Jim Fogdall, owner.
“RVs are bigger than they were 27 years ago,” Fogdall said, explaining why the dealership is moving after being at its University Avenue location in Cedar Falls for many years. “We ran out of room both inside and outside.”
Ace Fogdall’s current location at 5424 University Ave., in Cedar Falls is on five acres and includes a 12,500-square-foot showroom. Its new location will have 25 acres and a 45,000-square-foot indoor showroom and service facility.
“We’ll expand our inventory and take on a new (product) line,” Fogdall said, adding that he will do some shopping at the National RV Trade Show in Louisville a month from now.
Ace Fogdall’s current inventory includes Thor Industries Inc.’s Airstream and Dutchmen brands, Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.’s Prowler, Winnebago Industries Inc.’s Itasca and R-Vision Inc.’s Trail-Lite.
“We have a lot of good product to grow on,” said Fogdall, who noted that the dealership is happy with its current offerings but the additional space created an opportunity to add a new line.
