Slideout systems supplier Actuant Corp. believes the RV market will continue to be soft for the remainder of this calendar year.

The supplier of Power Gear and Dewald slideouts, reported today (June 20) that its sales to RV industry OEMs was $11 million lower during the nine months ended May 31, than was the case a year earlier.

“Excluding the recently acquired Dewald business, our RV sales during the (March-through-May) quarter were higher than those reported (during the December-through-February) quarter, but still 30% lower than last year,” said Robert Arzbaecher, president and CEO of the Milwaukee-based company.

Actuant completed the acquisition of Dewald in March.

“We expect this softness to continue during the balance of calendar 2001, although the comparables will improve since the RV decline started in May of last year,” Arzbaecher said.
