Startup Class B manufacturer Advanced RV LLC displayed the Ocean One van camper for the first time at the Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa in mid-January. Ocean One and two other Advanced RV B-van brands — Stream and Upstream — are built on the imported Mercedes-Benz dual-wheel Sprinter 3500 chassis in 22-foot 9-inch to 24-foot 1-inch floorplans. With retail prices starting at about $120,000 and technical features that exceed those of most of today’s Class B’s, Advanced RV vans feature a touch-screen Silverleaf multiplex system that controls lighting and the entertainment center while monitoring tank and battery levels and other electronics. All three brands feature extra-heavy duty front axles, an extra anti-sway bar and forward-facing Mobileye cameras that alert the driver to safety situations. Heat and hot water are provided by a German-designed diesel-powered hydronic system. ”We build in a lot of tech that provides a safe and comfortable experience,” said Mike Neundorfer, president of factory-direct Advanced RV. Located in Willoughby, Ohio, Advanced RV LLC began production in April 2012. The company offers a variety of options for the power lithium-iron batteries that run appliances and air conditioning in its custom-built coaches. Advanced RV’s ”Independence Package” features from two to six lithium-iron batteries that can be charged through a variety of methods, including solar panels, a shore connection, optional generator, or off the engine while traveling. ”We can put propane in, but most of our customers aren’t asking for it right now,” Neundorfer said. ”Three batteries are adequate if you are going to be driving a little bit every day.”
