As summer gas prices are set to be the most affordable in a decade, it’s good news for the RV industry, reported KOLO TV in Reno, Nev.

According to GasBuddy, the average price of gas in the U.S. will be about $2.35 per gallon this summer – the last summer prices were that low was in 2005.

“People are over that hump of the bad years in ’08 and ’09 and they’re ready to make purchases and enjoy life,” said Curt Curtis, vice president for Paul Evert’s RV Country.

With the extra savings from the pump and a little help from warmer weather, more people are ready to invest  in recreation.

“Thinking I should kick back and take life easy and retire so, I have to buy a new home with wheels on it,” said John Hejny, a customer of the dealership.

“Probably over the last six months as gas prices have fallen and interest rates are still low, it’s a favorable time for the RV industry,” said Curtis. “We’re up about 23%, which is huge for the RV industry so we’re very excited about 2015 and what it has in store for us.”
