Affinity Group Inc. (AGI) CEO Joe McAdams will retire at the end of this year and his responsibilities will be divided between Mark Boggess, who will become CEO of AGI’s Camping World subsidiary, and Mike Schneider, who will become CEO of the AGI subsidiaries that include the Good Sam Club and TL Enterprises Inc., publisher of RV Business and RVBUSINESS.COM.
“Since 1991, Joe (McAdams) has led AGI in a phenomenal growth period,” AGI Chairman Steve Adams said. “He has nearly quadrupled the company’s revenues in that time period and has helped us to build a business that is a leader in the recreational vehicle and outdoor recreation industry.
“Joe has set the stage for the company to continue in its growth,” Adams continued. “He will be missed in our day-to-day operation, but he certainly has left his mark on AGI.”
McAdams will remain on the Ventura, Calif., company’s board of directors, Adams added.
Boggess is being promoted from AGI CFO to CEO of aftermarket accessories retail store chain Camping World.
Camping World currently has 32 stores with two more planned to open in December and a projected seven more in 2004. It also sells more than 22 million items through its catalogs and fliers and its website receives nearly 7 million visitors annually.
Meanwhile, Schneider is being promoted to CEO of AGI’s clubs, magazines, directories and related operations from his position as AGI COO.
In addition to Good Sam, RV Business and RVBUSINESS.COM, Schneider’s responsibilities will include Coast to Coast resorts, Trailer Life and MotorHome magazines, the Trailer Life Directory, Woodall’s, Golf Card International and the Ehlert group of magazines for motorcycle, boating, snowmobile and personal watercraft enthusiasts.
Additionally, Tom Wolfe is being promoted to CFO of AGI from his position as vice president of finance and controller.
