Murray Coker, senior vice president/chief marketing executive of Affinity Group Inc. (AGI), will be retiring at the end of 2005 after 27 years with the Ventura, Calif.-based company.
For the majority of his career with AGI, Coker worked for RV retailer Camping World, based in Bowling Green, Ky., where he began in 1978 and later oversaw the development of the company’s first computer system.
In 1989, Coker was promoted to senior vice president of marketing and is credited with building the department from scatch. During his tenure, Coker was instrumental in establishing Camping World’s first marketing database, the company’s President’s Club, and the Vendor Marketing Program while also bringing all catalog production in-house.
In 1998 Coker was promoted to his current position with AGI and continued to expand marketing efforts while spearheading several cross-promotional initiatives between AGI and Camping World.
Coker also has been a member of the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s Public Relations Committee for over 10 years.
Following his retirement, Coker will serve as a consultant for AGI.
