Campgrounds too often use site maps solely to communicate park rules and regulations when they can also be used as guest guides that showcase everything there is to see and do at the park and in the surrounding area.
Realizing the often-untapped marketing opportunities that exist with site maps, Billings, Mont.-based Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) has recruited its vendors, including Crowley, Texas-based AGS, to help KOA franchisees develop guest guides that are supported with advertising from local businesses.
“What we did was take the site maps and make them into a stronger communication tool for our campgrounds,” said Brandi Simpson, KOA’s integrated marketing manager, said in a press release. “Our vendors now have access to several templates that KOA franchisees can use for their guest guides and site maps.”
AGS has expertise in developing content for both guest guides and site maps and is skilled at recruiting local advertisers, who typically generate enough revenue so that the guides can be produced at no charge to the campground, the release stated.
“We have always been more than a site map company. Marketing is the key regarding content in these guides. The partnership that we have been able to develop with KOA is a perfect fit,” said Brian Schaeffer, AGS president and CEO. “We look forward to expanding our work with KOA corporate parks and franchisees across the country.”
So far, AGS has used the new templates to develop guest guides for KOA campgrounds in Virginia Beach, Va., Cape Hatteras, N.C. and Arlington, Texas.
