Airstream announced Tuesday (Dec. 1) that it is expanding its line of iconic travel trailers and touring coaches in an effort to welcome new consumers to the Airstream lifestyle.
According to Bob Wheeler, Airstream president and CEO, “Our brand is synonymous with adventure. By providing products at a broader range of price points, sizes and decors, we’re creating an opportunity for more people to answer the call of the open road.”
According to a news release, across the spectrum of new offerings is the roomy 30-foot Flying Cloud as well as the compact 16-foot Sport. The new International Serenity promotes a tranquil atmosphere, while Victorinox Swiss Army Special Edition captures the adventurous spirit of two iconic brands. The Interstate Class B motorhome’s all-new Sand Pearl interior sets a new standard for luxury touring while the brand’s first-ever Class B motorhome built on a Chevrolet chassis will make its debut next spring.
Here are details of these new products:
30-foot Flying Cloud
The new 30-foot Flying Cloud features a fusion of contemporary style and traditional Airstream design cues. Geared toward campers seeking a unit for extended or full-time use, each trailer is outfitted with modern fabrics, fixtures, and cabinetry. Recessed lighting and an exposed aluminum interior skin add a contemporary touch while plentiful windows maximize interior light and its sense of spaciousness. Most importantly, the 30-foot floor plan is now the largest of the popular and practical Flying Cloud series and affords the consumer a great value.
This compact trailer is extremely easy to tow and can be hauled with almost any midsize SUV. Unlike most trailers its size, the 16-foot Sport features a permanent bed and dinette as well as a fully functional galley and bathroom. The Sport has been configured from the ground up to be easy to use, easy to store and an excellent choice for those new to the RV lifestyle altogether.
The International series will replace its Ocean Breeze variant with the all-new Serenity. Geared toward a design-savvy audience, every color, shape, surface and texture contributes to an atmosphere of relaxed luxury and tranquility. Like all International models, the Serenity is equipped with Internet hook-up, satellite pre-wire and optional solar package. The International is available in 16-, 19-, 23-, 25-, 27- and 28-foot lengths.
Victorinox Special Edition Airstream
Together with Victorinox Swiss Army, a brand known for superior design, precision and classic elegance, Airstream has created this masterfully engineered, limited edition 19-foot trailer (shown above). This unique travel trailer features solid surface countertops, cutting-edge cabinets and hardware and a luxurious custom bedding ensemble with embroidered wool blanket. And to ensure consumers are fully equipped, a collection of Victorinox Swiss Army timepieces, kitchen cutlery, Swiss Army Knives and accessories are included to enhance any camping adventure.
Interstate: Sand Pearl
The Interstate Class B motorhome combines the maneuverability and driving ease of a luxury car with the premium comfort and convenience Airstream is known for. Airstream refined this multi-functional touring model for 2010 with an all-new “Sand Pearl” interior that includes upscale flooring, Corian countertops, high-gloss laminate and plush leather seating. The versatile Interstate has two floorplans: a lounge version that seats eight and sleeps two or the all-new twin configuration that seats three and sleeps two. Both have a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
Expansion of Motorized Lineup
An all-new Class B motorhome built on a Chevrolet chassis will makes its debut in late spring. This new platform will leverage Airstream’s proven motorized expertise in order to create a lower-priced companion coach to the existing Sprinter-based Interstate.
