A plastics manufacturer is considering an expansion of its plant in Bristol, Ind., a move that could bring more than 100 additional jobs to Elkhart County.
The Elkhart Truth reported that Ameri-Kart Human Resources Manager Stephanie Colcord noted, “We hope to stay here in Bristol. We’re excited about it.”
The plant already has about 150 employees, she said. The company, headquartered in Sandusky, Ohio, also has a plant in Cassopolis, Mich.
Plans for a $6.4 million expansion in Bristol would create another 107 jobs, Colcord said, including production crews, drivers and managers. The average wage of those jobs would be $19.62 per hour, she said.
The council adopted a declaratory resolution related to the expansion, an initial step toward three-year tax abatements on equipment and property.
