American RV is opening a new supercenter in Albuquerque, N.M., that will include RV accessories retailer Camping World.
The Albuquerque Journal reported that the new 70,000-square-foot sales and service facility is slated to open in mid-March. American RV, which has been in Albuquerque since 1983 and is a FreedomRoads affiliate, will relocate operations from its former site.
The bulk of the supercenter will be dedicated to American RV, which will have more than 350 recreational vehicles on the lot. Robert Maese Jr., sales manager for the retailer, estimated that the new store will sell as many as 100 RVs a month.
About 20,000 square feet of the center will be used by Camping World and another 30,000 square feet is dedicated to the service center. The indoor sales floor will include a cafe for customers who may have to wait for service.
The service center, which will be operated jointly by Camping World and American RV, will offer 24 indoor work bays and two outdoor bays.
“This center will be a destination for enthusiasts throughout the country,” said Matthew Young, regional marketing director for Chicago area-based FreedomRoads LLC. “There is quite a market for RVs and this center will serve that need.”
Camping World also has partnered with American RV’s Anthony, Texas, location along with other major dealerships nationwide as part of the company’s Gold Medal Dealer program.
Young said the new location was chosen because of its easy access to the freeway. He explained that people who drive RVs generally don’t like to maneuver the big rigs through city traffic.
