American RV and Marine plans to relocate its Las Cruces, N.M., store to a much larger site off Interstate 10, just outside of El Paso, Texas, that will eventually include an RV resort and two restaurants.
“It’s going to be a mammoth move,” sales manager Bobby Adair said of the relocation, which will take place in the spring of 2001.
American RV and Marine currently operates a 13-acre site in Las Cruces, but it draws 52 percent of its business from El Paso, some 20 to 30 minutes away. The new location is a 500-acre site in Anthony, Texas, just six miles outside of El Paso, Adair said.
The new location will be developed with a 400-space RV park, two restaurants, and a 1.9 acre showroom for both RVs and boats, plus 29 bays for RV servicing and a parts department that’s open until midnight every day, Adair said.
“In Las Cruces, we have about $10 million in inventory. We will triple or quadruple that,” Adair said.
American RV and Marine carries towable and motorized RVs by Jayco, Coachmen, Newmar and Holiday Rambler in addition to Maxum and Bayliner boats. American RV Marts operates two stores in Albuqueque in addition to its Las Cruces location.
