The Arizona State Land Department plans to sell commercial leases on two large parcels in Lake Havasu City in June, and the Islander RV Resort has applied for a new 50-year lease on 51 acres on the Island’s south side, according to the News-Herald of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
Public auctions for both leases are scheduled June 18 at the front of the Mohave County Courthouse in Kingman. Proceeds from the sale or lease of state trust lands primarily are intended to benefit Arizona’s schools.
If there is another successful bidder for the property, Islander RV Resort would receive more than $15 million as compensation for past improvements.
Lake Havasu City (Ariz.) Mayor Bob Whelan also has applied for a 65-year lease on 18.7 acres near the Islander RV Resort. He plans to expand his Campbell Boat Service Co. operation to a portion of the other parcel, along with a gas station, convenience store, carwash, marine-related retail and a RV park.
