An $80,000 check was presented by the national Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) to the Go RVing Coalition during the coalition’s meeting in Washington, D.C., on Monday (June 7).
ARVC had hoped to raise $100,000 in voluntary contributions from its members but came up short because the recommended amounts for contributions from individual members were too small, said ARVC President Linda Profaizer.
ARVC will seek voluntary contributions from its members again in 2005 to help support the work of the coalition, which is best known for an national advertising campaign that includes network and cable TV spots.
However, beginning in 2006, a contribution to the coalition will be included as a line item in ARVC’s annual budget, Profaizer said.
This year, ARVC hoped to raise $125,000 in voluntary contributions from its members so it could provide $100,000 to the coalition and $25,000 for ARVC promotional efforts, she added.
Media spending for the coalition’s national ad campaign will total around $14 million this year with much of the funding coming from a surcharge that RV manufacturers pay for each unit they produce.
