The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) installed officers for the coming year while honoring member campgrounds and associations for excellence in 2004 at the annual InSites Convention & Expo Dec. 1-4 in Savannah, Ga.
ARVC’s board of directors for 2005 will include Chairman Jason Sheaffer, Pinch Pond Family Campground & Gretna Oaks Camping, Manheim, Pa.; 1st Vice Chairman Max Gibbs, Sandy Pines RV Resort, Hopkins, Mich.; 2nd Vice Chairman Dr. Harry Scott, Shipshewana Campground & Amish Log Cabin Lodging and Shipshewana Campground South, Shipshewana, Ind.; Treasurer Jay Jamison, Pismo Coast Village, Pismo Beach, Calif.; Secretary Garry Cole, Shelby/Mansfield KOA, Shelby, Ohio; and Immediate Past Chairman Kathy Palmeri, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park, Estes Park, Colo.
Winners of ARVC’s 2004 Awards of Excellence were announced in the following categories:
* Small State Association Directory of the Year: Georgia ARVC.
* Medium State Association Directory of the Year: New Jersey Campground Owners Association.
* Large State Association Directory of the Year: Texas Association of Campground Owners.
* Largest Percentage Increase in Membership: Illinois Campground Association.
* Greatest Numeric Increase in Membership: California Travel Parks Association.
* State Association Executives of the Year: A tie between Beverly Gruber of the Pennsylvania Campground Owners Association and Lori Severson of the Wisconsin Campground Owners Association.
* State President of the Year: JoAnne Mickelson, Arizona Travel Parks Association.
* Brochure of the Year: Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort, Foxborough, Mass. Honorable mention went to Lakewood Camping Resort, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Walnut Hills Campground, Staunton, Va.
* Direct Mail Promotion of the Year: Cypress Woods RV Resort, Ft. Myers, Fla. An honorable mention went to Cherrystone Family Camping Resort, Urbanna, Va. and Cedar Point Resorts, Sandusky, Ohio.
* Website of the Year: Odetah Campground, Bozrah, Conn. An honorable mention went to Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort, Foxborough, Mass. and Rincon Country RV Resorts, Tucson, Ariz.
* Small Park of the Year: Aces High RV Park, East Lyme, Conn.
* Medium Park of the Year: Shelby/Mansfield KOA, Shelby, Ohio.
* Large Park of the Year: Lake Rudolph RV Park and Campground, Santa Claus, Ind.
* Mega Park of the Year: Voyager RV Golf Resort, Tucson, Ariz.
* Stan Martin Award: Dick Hartford, Evergreen USA, Lewiston, Me. and the late Joe Striska, who served as executive director of the Alabama Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds and president of the Florida Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds.
* Pioneer Award: Al Daniels, Normandy Farms Family Camping Resort, Foxborough, Mass.
* Chairman’s Awards: Recipients included Art Littman, Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, Va.; Jim Rowley, Austin Lone Star RV Resort, Austin, Texas; Ron Gilbert, Drummer Boy Camping Resort, Gettysburg, Pa.; and Traci Pasqualone, director of marketing for ARVC.
