Screen-Shot-2015-02-23-at-11.26.04-AM-300x103Michigan campground owners can get started on the 2015 camping season at the 2015 Spring Conference & Expo, March 23-25, at Saginaw Valley State University. The three-day event features speakers, seminars and exhibitors and is hosted by the Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds of Michigan (ARVC Michigan).

“After the long winter, the spring conference and expo signals to the campground community it’s time to jumpstart the energy and enthusiasm for their campground businesses,” said ARVC Michigan Board President Dave Cordray of White River RV Park & Campground in Montague, Mich. “Members look forward to visiting with old friends and meeting with new campgrounds, attending industry specific educational seminars, and sharing ideas about what works and what didn’t work at their campground.”

Lori Tews, ARVC Michigan’s executive director, said early registrations have been excellent and they are looking forward to a large number of attendees.

“We believe the topics chosen for this year’s program — customer service, Google Analytics, marketing, to name a few — are all essential tools for maintaining and growing your business,” she said. “Plus, it’s so important for all of us to stay on top of current trends so we are better able to provide the level of service expected by the camping public.”

Cordray added that Michigan campground owners are especially looking forward to the Spring Conference & Expo with great anticipation this year, in part because of the industry is expecting one of the best seasons in years but also because of the program itself.

“We are holding the convention in a new venue (Saginaw Valley State University), we’ve changed the format slightly and we are offering unique seminars,” he said.

Among the speakers is Paul Bambei, CEO/president of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC). Bambei, whose topic is “Tap into the Network,” will be addressing attendees following lunch on the second day of the program.

Keynote speaker Rick Olson, who has spoken to more than 1 million people worldwide, will have two presentations: “Are you fun to work with? Fun is not the reward for getting work done, but rather the lubricant for getting work done;” and “Out of this World Customer Service.”

Other guest speakers include: Mary Hickman of MHK Marketing Group, LLC, whose topic, “Making Marketing Work for Your Business,” will cover the elements of a solid marketing plan, harnessing the power of the Internet, social media, email and how current customers can be your best salespeople; and G. Kent Mangelson, CPA, of American Society of Asset Protection (ASAP) who will discuss “How Campground & RV Park Owners Can Become Invincible to Lawsuits and Save Thousands in Taxes.”

Other seminar speakers and topics include: “Payment System Security” by Robert Brouwer; “Michigan Legislative Update” by Scott Everett of Fraser Consulting; “Understanding & Interpreting Financial Reports in Order to Make Better Business Decisions” by Dr. Mark McCartney, CPA; Preventive, cost-effective security measures by Greg Katt of Katt Insurance Agency; “Using Google Analytics to Improve Your Business” by Sarah Worsham of Sazbean Consulting; and “Themed Weekends That Work” by Tim and Michelle Wilcox and Gateway Park Campground.
