Park owners and operators are offered a certification class for the NFPA 1194 standard as applied to campgrounds, according to the ARVC Foundation.

The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) will host the program at this year’s Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo, scheduled for Nov. 4 in Knoxville, Tenn.

“The NFPA 1194 Completion Certificate class will provide guidance to park owners in interpreting the NFPA 1194 standard, the ARVC a nationally-recognized standard developed, maintained and published by the National Fire Protection Association,” Jeff Sims, the ARVC senior director of state relations and program advocacy says.

The NFPA 1194 standard “focuses specifically on campgrounds,” Sims says. This will save campgrounds money on planning and construction costs. For example, if issues come up during the construction such as zoning boards, health inspectors, etc., the operator can show due diligence in building a park to nationally recognized consensus standards.”
