Forest City, Iowa-based Winnebago Industries Inc. was on hand to help Winnebago RV, a wholly owned subsidiary of Australian-owned Apollo Motorhome Holidays, introduce its 2015 lineup of U.S. produced Winnebago Minnie towable products and Australian produced Winnebago brand motorhomes and campervans.
According to a press release, Winnebago RV recently launched its new lineup to crowds of more than 50,000 visitors at the 2015 Victorian Caravan, Camping and Touring Supershow in Australia. Visitors were able to explore the 2015 inaugural lineup of motorhomes, campervans and towable caravans. These models are designed with “the best manufacturing techniques from North America, with Australian market knowledge and expertise,” according to Winnebago.
Winnebago RV designed and built an entire new lineup of five motorhomes and two campervans in Australia, and went through a rigorous process to make the highly popular Winnebago Minnie, imported from the U.S., compliant with Australian caravan standards and consistent with the tastes of Australian travelers.
At the official launch event on Feb. 10, Winnebago Industries Towables President Johnny Hernandez said the American industry leader was proud to partner with Apollo Group in Australia and New Zealand. “Winnebago is synonymous with the RV lifestyle and we are extremely confident about the models that will be sold here in Australia and in New Zealand,” Hernandez stated.
Apollo CEO Luke Trouchet noted, “We jumped at the chance to bring Winnebago product to Australia, and have been given access to import the entire Winnebago Industries caravan (towables) lineup from the U.S., as well as producing motorized product under the Winnebago brand at the group’s Brisbane manufacturing facility.”
A family business started by his parents in 1985, Trouchet and brother, Karl, head the business with excitement about the future and the partnership with Winnebago. “This is only the start,” he said. “We have been overwhelmed with interest from dealers, and we expect to establish a national dealership network both in Australia and New Zealand during 2015.”
The first official dealerships are expected to be announced within the next few weeks.
