The Prince George, British Columbia, council has voted down an application to rezone the former Yellowhead Grove Golf Course on Highway 16 to make way for multilocation dealer Woody’s RV.

According to a report by CKPG RV, after a lengthy public hearing last night, residents expressed a litany of concerns ranging from safety of children walking to Vanway School to the reduction of property values with an RV sales business in their neighborhood.

The proponent planned to build an 11-acre RV sales and service business, with access to the former golf course site from both Bunce Road and Leland Road. Concerns ranged from the safety of children walking to and from Vanway School every day to concerns over weight restrictions for that road and the narrowness of the road to accommodate larger vehicles.

The Prince George location would have been the first for Woody’s in that province. Woody’s other three dealerships are in Alberta.
