By all indications, the expansion by multi-location dealership Beaudry RV into the campground sector was well-timed.
Beaudry RV, with locations in Tucson and Mesa, Aria., and San Diego, Calif., opened Beaudry RV Resort in Tucson during November 2000.
The facility, situated just south of the company’s Tucson dealership location, had 1,323 guests during November 2000, but the number of visitors nearly tripled during November 2001 to 3,545 people.
The market niche for the 46-acre, 400-space facility is highline coach rallies. It hosted 15 rallies during its first year and another 29 are booked through early 2003, said Neville Proud, director of operations at the resort.
Recent rallies at Beaudry RV Resort included American Coach, Country Coach, Holiday Rambler and Monaco Coach owners clubs. RV enthusiasts organizations such as the Good Sam Club and RVing Women also had gatherings at the facility.
Rallies are staged at a theater-style convention center that can accommodate 1,500 to 1,700 people and seat up to 800 for dinner.
In addition to rallies, the resort also gets a significant number of overnighters, including those having their rigs serviced at the nearby Beaudry RV dealership.
Amenities at Beaudry RV Resort include landscaping with orange, grapefruit, lemon and lime trees, 50 AMP hookups, two heated swimming pools with Jacuzzis, two laundromats, a general store with LP gas, an RV dump station, a game room with pool tables, a 125-seat 5-star restaurant and live jazz every night except Mondays.
A quarter of the 400 spaces have phone and Internet connections and 20 have private Jacuzzis.
Overnight rates range from $24.95 to $49.95, depending on the amenities.
