Funeral services are slated for later this week in northern Indiana for Rebecca (Becky) Ward, 52, director of consumer affairs for Jayco Inc.
Ward, a popular individual within the Jayco family and a well known executive in industry circles, died Sunday (Feb. 17) after a long battle with cancer.
A recipient of the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) Education Award in 2000, Ward was a leading force in the development of the industry’s service technician training program. She was a member of RVIA’s Education Committee and the RVDA/RVIA Certification Board that oversees certification testing for the two associations on a national scale.
“I am saddened by the loss of a valued friend and colleague,” Jayco President and COO Derald L. Bontrager said in a prepared statement. “Becky was energetic, highly respected and one of our most knowledgeable managers. Her passion for her work will be missed, not only at Jayco, but also by the whole RV industry. She represented our business with the highest degree of integrity and professionalism.”
After a 20-year tenure in various service and warranty management roles with Holiday Rambler Corp., Ward joined Jayco in 1992 and served as director of aftermarket services until being named to the newly created position of director of consumer affairs in 2000. A member of Jayco’s senior management committee, she was a single mother of one grown son, Matt Gilbert of Elkhart.
Viewing is slated for 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home and Crematory, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, Ind. 46516.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and at 2 p.m. Friday at the North Webster Cemetery in North Webster, Ind. Those wishing to do so are asked to donate in Ward’s name to a charity of their choice.
