According to a press release, “Kamp Keystone” will offer children in the BBBS program (‘Littles’) and their mentors (‘Bigs’) the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in comfort through the use of five luxury Keystone campers.
“Kamp Keystone” was started in 2007 as a way for Keystone employees to actually use and enjoy the RVs they manufacture, and provide valuable product feedback to the company. The RVs are booked solid during the camping season, which runs April through October.
Keystone RV President Matt Zimmerman says the company’s partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters is another way for the company to give back to the community.
“Response from our employees and the community to the Big Brothers Big Sisters camping weekends has been overwhelmingly positive,” Zimmerman said. “Throwing the doors open again this year enables us to do even more. As the father of two young boys, I personally believe camping with your family is one of the best investments you can make. Through ‘Kamp Keystone’ we expect to make a positive contribution in these young people’s lives.”
Shelby Herms, events coordinator for BBBS, added, “’Kamp Keystone’ provides a unique opportunity for Bigs and Littles to participate in activities like camping, swimming, hiking, and roasting marshmallows, while growing in their mentoring relationships. It really is a great example of what our program is all about: the opportunity for Bigs and Littles to have new experiences together, and by doing so, to build a strong and positive friendship. We are thrilled to partner with Keystone and believe that this weekend will be an experience matches will remember together for a long time.”
