The Canadian Recreation Vehicle Association (CRVA) is looking for ”The Big One,” next week’s Toronto Spring Camping & RV Show & Sale in Mississauga, Ontario, to top last year’s attendance of more than 22,000 people.
”The momentum is there,” said Shannon O’Callaghan, CRVA show director. ”We are anticipating bringing in new younger campers as well as those looking to upgrade.”
Billed as Canada’s largest RV show, about 30 dealers showing more than 400 towable and motorized RVs will be on hand March 2-5 at the International Centre in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga.
With some 100 vendors selling products, and promoting campgrounds and services, O’Callaghan reported space at the show is sold out.
”We’ve got a waiting list and we are very excited about all the things that are going on,” she said.
Those attending will have a chance to win a $15,000 Family Camping Package that will include a Forest River Rockwood travel trailer, Osprey kayak and fishing gear from True Canadian Outdoors, along with other equipment.
The hosts of the popular Canadian ”Fish TV” program will be on hand to provide tips for anglers and there will be an interactive fishing simulator.
O’Callaghan said the unfavorable exchange rate between the U.S. and Canadian dollars hasn’t seemed to affect RV sales. With a vast majority of RVs manufactured in the U.S., ”Obviously, it affects the dealers and everything they do,” Callaghan said. ”But on the consumer level, if they’ve got it in their minds that they want to go camping, they’ll go camping.”
On-site financing will be available through RBC, TD Auto Finance and National Bank of Canada.
Daily seminars will include RV Hitch Hints, RV Cleaners and Treatments, and RVing for Beginners — RV Lifestyle for New RVers.
