Between 350 and 400 RVs are expected to be driven to the 30th Anniversary Oklahoma “Harvest Time” Fall Samboree which begins Thursday (Oct. 16), according to the Shawnee News-Star.
The rally will take place at the Heart of Oklahoma Exhibition Center in Shawnee.
As of Monday (Oct. 13) afternoon, 150 RVs had already arrived at the expo center grounds, the News-Star reported.
Samborees are one of the benefits of belonging to the Good Sam Club, and the event in Shawnee is expected to draw members mainly from Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas and Louisiana, said John Gallagher, Oklahoma state director for Good Sam.
Gallagher told the newspaper club members from 18 to 20 other states and Canada also are expected to attend the Samboree, which will continue through Sunday (Oct. 19). He said the owners of 350 to 400 RVs had registered to attend.
In Oklahoma alone, there are nearly 10,000 Good Sam members belonging to 43 chapters, Gallagher said. “This is pretty much like one big family,” he added.
As is typical with such gatherings, dealers will have more than 30 RVs at the expo grounds for display and sales plus there will be RV-related seminars, games and entertainment.
Good Sam Club, formed in 1966, now has nearly 1 million member families. It is a unit of Affinity Group Inc., parent of TL Enterprises Inc., which publishes RV Business and RVBUSINESS.COM.
