Black Book reported that RV values at auction were very stable during December with changes of less than 2%.

“Volume was up across the board, which is possibly due to sellers clearing their books of unwanted inventory they were holding before the end of the calendar year,” said Eric Lawrence of Black Book. “There were a larger than usual number of units in poor condition which were sent to auction last month, which is also not an uncommon solution for end-of-year housekeeping.”

Taking a closer look at the markets, the average selling price for motorized units was $46,135, down $583 (1.2%) from the previous month, while towables came in at $13,533, representing a gain of $208 (1.5%) from last month. One year ago the average motorhome sold for $41,444 and the average towable unit brought $12,610.

Auction volume was up substantially this month as motorized increased 17% and towables rose 20%.
