Blue Dog RV is hosting “American Heroes Month” during July at its store in Medford, Ore. According to a press release, the dealership will be having a community barbecue fundraiser on Friday (July 19) with the goal to raise money for a local group that helps homeless veterans.
According to a press release, the event will start at 11 a.m. that will include hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and soda. Attendees can donate any amount they want, but, according to the release, “a $5 donation per meal is appreciated.”
Blue Dog RV has 12 stores across five different states. All of these stores will be hosting a barbecue on Friday and each store chose a different local charity that helps veterans.
“It’s July still,” said L.J. DeVaughn, the regional sales manager at Blue Dog RV. “Just because we celebrate one day doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate the whole month with it. We just want to have a month that we go guys, we appreciate everything you do for us. They’ve touched our lives, maybe not you directly, but they’ve touched our lives throughout our whole community. So, it’s just something I want to say thank you for.”
Blue Dog RV said that they will match the amount of money they make from the barbecue fundraiser.
The money raised from the barbecue will be donated to Hope Village, the first home community for the homeless in Southern Oregon. It’s a transitional housing community for the homeless, including veterans. About 20 percent of the people who live in Hope Village are veterans.
