Boat-N-RV Superstore, a New York-based motorhome and water sports retailer, has selected Ridgeland, S.C., as the site of its fifth store, a move that’s expected to bring a $20 million to $30 million investment to the region along with 50 to 200 new jobs.
The Beaufort (S.C.) Gazette reported that officials with the company, currently operating stores in New York and Pennsylvania, spent this week with town officials and engineers working at the 60-acre proposed store site, off Interstate 95 in Ridgeland. The site will be the company’s first store in the Southeast.
“We’re looking at a December 2006, January 2007 opening,” said company official Don Littlefield.
The tentative plans include a 125,000-square-foot building and a large showroom for recreational vehicles with an integrated pond for boats.
The store will take up about 15 acres of the 60-acre lot. The retailer is looking for a compatible outdoor-oriented business to build a neighboring store.
