Thor Industries Inc., parent company to a number of Elkhart County RV companies, is on a roll. Its second-quarter revenue was announced this week, a record $1.5 billion.
WSBT TV reported that Thor has a number of expansion projects in the works that will translate into hundreds of new jobs, but the questions becomes, with a low unemployment rate, where will the new workers come from?
Thor CEO Bob Martin stopped by Middlebury to take a look at one of several expansion projects at Jayco, which is owned by Thor.
Crews are building a second new plant. The first one was recently completed and is now in operation. The total work force in both will be around 300.
“The plant right behind us, finished up within the last year, and then we’ve actually started production on the other facility for travel trailers and fifth-wheels,” Martin said.
In Goshen work is under way to build two large production facilities at Keystone RV.
Once up and running it could employ up to 300 additional workers. Several new Heartland plants are being built in Howe, Indiana, which will translate into new jobs as well.
