The stock market took a beating Friday after the government reported wholesale prices surged during January.

Earnings warnings from Nortel Networks, Dell Computer and Hewlett-Packard also contributed to the Nasdaq composite falling 128 points, or 5%, on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also slid down 91 points, or 0.8%.
