Diversified recreational products manufacturer Brunswick Corp. has purchased Integrated Dealer Systems (IDS), a developer of management systems for RV and pleasure boat dealers.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
IDS, with offices in Raleigh, N.C., St. Petersburg, Fla., and Toronto, will become a part of Brunswick New Technologies, which was formed recently to focus on developing growth initiatives in software and electronics applications.
IDS will operate as an independent business unit within Brunswick Technologies. IDS founder Steve Hawkins will continue with the company, reporting to T.J. Chung, president of Brunswick New Technologies.
IDS will continue to sell to all dealers and OEMs, including Brunswick.
Brunswick manufacturers Mercury and Mariner outboard engines, MerCruiser sterndrives and inboard engines along with the Sea Ray, Bayliner, Maxum, Hatteras, Baja, Boston Whaler and Princecraft lines of pleasure boats. It also builds bowling alleys, pool tables and exercise equipment sold under the Life Fitness, Hammer Strength and ParaBody brands.
“IDS will be one of the key components in enhancing cooperation and connectivity throughout the marine distribution channel by improving electronic collaboration between original equipment manufacturers and their dealers,” Chung said. “It complements our other businesses already active in electronics and Internet software applications.”
IDS offers a number of turnkey and customized systems integrating hardware, software and network configurations to help support such dealership activities as sales prospecting, accounting, administration and parts and inventory management.
