As weather allows, ground will be broken in March for a new $8 million, 49,000-square-foot Burlington RV Supercenter on Interstate 94 in Yorkville, Wisc., some 18 miles away from its namesake community.
“We expect the project to be complete by November and move in during the fall months when our season is down a little,” said owner Tim Wegge. “The grand plan is to be open there by Jan. 1.”
Key to relocating from Burlington, the southeast Wisconsin community where the family-held dealership was founded 42 years ago, was the interstate highway location in Yorkville to the east, Wegge said.
“We are sitting right between Milwaukee and Chicago,” Wegge said. “Our traffic is going to increase substantially.”
Site work on 13 acres in Yorkville was completed last fall. The new facility will feature 18 service bays and a 20,000-square-foot indoor showroom.
Although the dealership’s current facility in Burlington is for sale, Wegge said it’s likely that it will be put to other RV-related uses, such as a storage lot or an RV rental center.
“I’m quite certain we’re going to keep it, but we’re still not sure what we are going to do there,” Wegge said.
