Campground Association Management Professionals (C.A.M.P.), a national organization of state campground association directors, recently celebrated its 15th anniversary by signing articles of incorporation and launching its first website at www.campgroundexecs.org.
“This formalizes our organization,” said Charlene Barbour, executive director of the Carolinas Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds who was re-elected as C.A.M.P. president for 2007 following the organization’s annual meeting Nov. 27-28 in Orlando, Fla.
The C.A.M.P. meeting, which involved 35 campground executives from 29 states, was held at Rosen’s Shingle Creek Resort on the eve of the National Association of RV Parks & Campground’s (ARVC’s) annual InSites Convention & Expo.
In other business, C.A.M.P. members shared ideas on database management, invoice tracking and newsletter advertising programs. They also viewed and discussed a video on membership recruitment, courtesy of Debbie Sipe of the California Travel Parks Association (CTPA).
Barbour said the exchange of ideas is designed to promote the consistent use of best practices among state campground associations. “It’s all about sharing information with our colleagues and other state executives so that we can become better equipped leaders for our state associations,” she said.
C.A.M.P. leaders also talked about common legislative issues, including efforts by several states to move the public school start dates after Labor Day so as not to cut short the summer camping season.
