“On RVing,” a weekly RV lifestyle program carried on cable by The Outdoor Channel, has been renewed through the end of September 2002, said show host Paul LaZar.
“The sponsors like what we’re doing,” said LaZar, who also serves as a managing member of Silver Spring, Md.-based Movin’ On Productions, LLC., which produces the 30-minute program.
“On RVing” airs one new segment each week, but viewers have the chance to see it in three different Eastern Time slots, including 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays, 1:30 a.m. Fridays, and 4:30 p.m. Saturdays.
The program, which has been on the air since last fall, includes sections on traveling, cooking, RV news, factory tours and production introductions. Janet Groene, an authority on RV cooking who frequently writes for Motor Home, Trailer Life and Family Motor Coach Association magazines, recently replaced “Babs in the Galley” as host of the show’s cooking segment.
Fleetwood, Coachmen and Monaco are among the companies whose products have been featured on the program. Destinations have ranged from the Oregon Coast to California’s Imperial Valley in the West to the Dells in Wisconsin, the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama in the East.
Other RV lifestyle programs include Affinity Group Inc.’s “RVtoday,” which airs on TNN at 2 p.m. Eastern time, every Saturday, and “Distant Roads,” produced by GPI Corp. of Toronto, which is broadcast nationally in Canada at 7:30 p.m. Eastern by Global Television and in 30 local markets in the U.S. by local affiliates. “Distant Roads,” which also airs nationally in Germany, has been on the air since 1990, making it the RV industry’s longest running RV program.
