The Advancer 20 travel trailer, a specially designed, handicapped accessible line from Sunline Coach Co. Inc., Denver, Pa., has been approved for use as a short-term rental unit in California state parks. “The market for the Advancer 20 is still formulating,” said Sunline President Joe Bucara. The state approved the Advancer 20 after the endorsement of Mike King, a prominent handicapped athlete who helped design the coach. “The state of California was looking for a handicapped solution for one of their rental concessionaires,” Bucara said. “A week after Mike King wrote a letter to the state park people, the Advancer 20 was approved.” The concessionaire – Luv2Camp, Pismo Beach – provides RV rentals for visitors to nearby Pismo Beach State Park, and already had received inquires a short time after beginning to advertise the Advancer 20’s availability. The 20-foot Advancer 20 features a 42-inch-wide side entrance door, roll-in shower and portable table to create an open, barrier-free floorplan. Retailing in the high $20,000s, Advancer 20 also is equipped with strategically placed assist bars, lowered light switches and other key accessible controls.
