Irvine, Calif.-based American Pacific Holdings has initiated a $500,000 renovation to the Sands RV and Golf Resort, which the company purchased last summer.
“We are probably going to spend about $500,000 improving the property over the next 18 months, but we’re hoping to get most of it done before the snowbirds arrive,” said Tom Doyle, managing partner of American Pacific Holdings, which owns the 521-space, 55-and-over RV resort in Desert Hot Springs, Calif.
The improvements include new electrical wiring, resurfaced tennis courts, remodeled restrooms, new signage and landscaping, and a new fleet of golf carts for the resort’s nine-hole golf course.
The park’s buildings are also being repainted and some of the sites are being reconfigured to accommodate larger RVs. American Pacific is also planning to equip the facility with WiFi service, an increasingly popular amenity for RV enthusiasts who need Internet connectivity when they travel.
In addition, American Pacific is setting up a park model dealership at the resort, which will sell 400-square foot park models manufactured by Goshen, Ind.-based Dutch Park Homes and Laurel Creek Homes of Phoenix, Ariz.
“We’re very bullish on park models,” Doyle said, adding, “They will provide a great opportunity for people to own seasonal and vacation dwellings at the resort.”
Sands RV and Golf Resort plans to sell its park models for $35,000 to $55,000 through a separate company called Park Model Concepts. Consumers who purchase the units will then be able to keep them on leased campsites, which will range from $350 to $550 per month.
