A California couple is hopeful they will be able to sell their two campground-related Internet domain names for a total of $100,000.
The two domain names are campgrounds.com and rvparks.com and both take Web surfers to the California Travel Parks Association Web site.
An appraisal firm, Great Domain Names, estimates the domain names are worth $35,000 to $50,000 each, said Dana Shaffer of Danville, Calif.
Mrs. Shaffer and her husband, Tom, have owned the domain names for several years. They want to sell their business because Tom Shaffer no longer has the time to manage the California association’s site, the Indiana, New Jersey and New York state campground association sites and two regional campground association sites.
They want to restrict the sale to companies or persons in the RV or campground industries, Mrs. Shaffer said.
So far, the only offers the Shaffers have received have been from entities asking them to give the domain names away. However, Mrs. Shaffer said she initiated an aggressive e-mail marketing campaign over the past weekend.
