Georgia-based Camping Time RV Inc. recently more than doubled the size of its Oakwood store, one of three that it operates in the metro Atlanta area.
“The old facility in Oakwood had been extremely successful, but we ran out of room for what we were doing,” said President Martin Zonnenberg, noting that operations were expanded from three to 7.5 acres. “We now have more ability to take care of our service customers; we have more sales space and we are highly visible from the interstate. We should have moved a long time ago.”
Camping Time, founded in 1986 in the northeast Atlanta suburb of Oakwood, also operates stores in the northwestern community of Woodstock and the eastern suburb of Snellville.
The new 30,000-square foot, two-story brick facility in Oakwood features a parts and accessory store, warranty and sales departments and administrative offices. The service department is equipped with eight large bays, a wash bay, chassis and body shops and a paint booth.
“In the first full month, we have seen a 50% increase in our service business alone,” said Zonnenberg, who owns Camping Time in partnership with Mark Derrick.
The second floor of the new facility will serve as Camping Time’s headquarters, which has been moved from Snellville. In 2004, Camping Time RV was Georgia’s largest dealership by volume, according to Zonnenberg, and received the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association’s Top Quality Dealer of the Year award.
