National RV retailer Camping World is moving about 50 jobs from its mail order operation in Bowling Green, Ky., to a sister company in Denver, according to a report in the Bowling Green Daily News.
Camping World said lack of space due to company growth made it necessary to move the operations. Similarly, Camping World recently announced it was moving its East Coast Distribution Center, which has 80 employees, from Bowling Green to nearby Franklin to handle the company’s expected increase in business volume.
“Camping World’s core operations will remain at its existing facilities here in Bowling Green for the foreseeable future,” CEO Mark Boggess said in a statement to the Daily News.
Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce President Jim Hizer said there is a silver lining, despite the loss of the call center jobs.
“These moves are made as a result of growth,” Hizer said. “That’s the bottom line. And their most significant presence will remain in Bowling Green.”
Hizer said the chamber had talked with Camping World, but was unable to suit the company’s space needs.
“We did not have a building locally that they could use,” he said. “They’ve seen tremendous growth and they’re trying to make provisions for that. It is our understanding, however, that their management team will remain in Bowling Green.”
