  Camping World Inc. announced that it will increase the minimum wage in all existing U.S. stores and divisions, beginning in March.

According to a release, the company will raise the minimum hourly rate to $12.25 for its nearly 7,000 associates, including part-time and seasonal associates.

”The culture and health of our company is measured by one thing for me, our people,” said Marcus Lemonis, chairman and CEO of Camping World and Good Sam Enterprises LLC. “The ability to attract and retain the best and brightest talent to our company is at the center of that. I value, respect and believe in our team members as they are vital to our success and it is for those reasons I continue to look for ways to reward their contributions.”

The company’s new employee minimum wage at $12.25 is more than 65% above the federal minimum wage, which is currently $7.25 per hour and has not been raised since 2009.

Lemonis continued, “This change is long overdue and I take the personal responsibility to advance these issues very seriously. This company will continue to think more proactively on ways to advance our people. This wage issue is a challenge facing businesses across this country from the biggest to the smallest. I am well aware of the challenge this puts on the financial statements of those businesses but I am more keenly aware of the positive impact this type of change can ultimately have on the overall business which ultimately affects the financial strength and performance. A more stable and consistent workforce will result in improved efficiency, better customer experience, higher standards of performance and slow down revolving doors.”
