The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) reported that RV wholesale shipments in Canada during the second quarter, ending June 30, rose 8.48% to 17,845 units compared to 16,450 units a year ago.

Accumulated year-to-date shipments for the first six months were 35,676 compared to 29,881 units in 2017, a 19.39% increase.

The RVDA of Canada recently reported that dealer retail activity during the second quarter totaled 24,038 units. When compared to the wholesale shipment figure of 17,845, it indicates that Canadian dealer inventory levels significantly decreased during the second quarter.

Although Canadian wholesale shipments are trending towards record numbers, CRVA is cautious in the near term and noted the following factors that could negatively impact both retail activity and wholesale shipments during the second half of 2018 including: NAFTA negotiations, tariffs on RVs and related components and the wildfires in Western Canada currently impacting vacation travel throughout British Columbia and Alberta.
