Canadian towable sales retreated 12.5% for the first four months of 2019, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Results by segment showed:

• Travel trailer sales fell 12.1% year-over-year through April.

• Canadian fifth-wheel sales dropped 14.3% for the first four months.

• Folding camping trailer registrations declined 13.9% through April on low volume.

Thor Industries Inc. was the overall Canadian towable sales leader through April with a 52.5% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (32.8%) and Grand Design RV Co. (7.4%).

Thor was the leader in travel trailer sales for the four months, claiming a 54.4% market share, followed by Forest River (32.9%) and Grand Design (5%). Thor was also No. 1 in Canadian fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 49.3% market share, followed by Forest River (24.6%) and Grand Design (21.6%).

Forest River led year-to-date Canadian folding camping trailer sales with a 75.8% market share while Thor posted a 15.7% share and Columbia Northwest garnered 4.4%
