RV supplier Carefree of Colorado will break ground in December on a 44,000-square-foot warehouse in Elkhart, Ind., for distribution of the Broomfield, Colo., company’s awnings and other RV products.
According to the Elkhart Truth, the new building will replace a 10,000-square-foot warehouse in nearby Goshen, Ind.
Workers will be transferred when the facility opens in spring, said Brian Lewis, Midwest operations manager for Carefree.
Lewis said 70% of the company’s market is in the Elkhart County area, and continued growth in recent years led to the decision to expand capacity.
The Truth reported that two other construction projects are also under way in Elkhart:
* Dynamax Inc. is adding 13,750 square feet to its Elkhart facility.
* Four Winds International is adding 24,920 square feet of manufacturing space at its Elkhart complex.
