Carefree Communities Inc., owner and operator of over 100 manufactured home communities and RV resorts, has successfully relaunched a new responsive website in wake of Google’s recent ranking algorithm. According to a press release, the website is now fully responsive thanks to the help of ProtoFuse, an Orlando, Fla.-based web design company.
Having a responsive site is extremely important from customer service and the customer experience perspective, the release stated. Effective April 21, Google started a new website ranking system that rewards sites that are mobile-friendly, and sites that are not mobile-friendly will begin to fall in Google search rankings.
“Some of the statistics cited in industry news indicate that barely half the Fortune 500 are mobile-enabled, and the news from Google came suddenly, leaving most businesses without a plan or a budget,” said Joyce Mireault, vice president of marketing at Carefree. “On average, 46% of Carefree’s web traffic comes from a tablet or smart phone, and our website is also a commerce site for our business, so a rapid plan to move to a responsive website was a critical strategy for the company,” said Mireault.
“Carefree was in the process of redesigning it’s website, when the Google news was announced, but put that project on hold, and was then able to act quickly with the help of its web company partner to redesign the current site to be fully responsive.”
Mireault added, “Leveraging the advantages of responsive design when viewing the website on a smart phone or tablet, our customers will now see a fresh new look and enjoy an intuitive browsing experience that showcases Carefree’s many RV properties and home inventory, and allows online booking. And, now that we’ve met that deadline, we are continuing with a complete redesign of the site based on customer feedback and new website design and functionality opportunities.”
