Towable builder Carriage Inc. is expanding its complex in Millersburg, Ind., to significantly increase production capacity and improve overall efficiencies.
Local officials attended a groundbreaking ceremony April 31 to mark the construction of a new 136,000-square-foot facility How To Get Over Your Ex that Carriage said will yield a 50% hike in operating capacity. Completion is targeted for the beginning of next year.
“We’ve been working out of 22 buildings that were constructed around 35 years ago,” said Don Emahiser, vice president of sales and marketing. “Right now, we’re restricted in the building process because we’re so spread out. This project will allow us to continue with our growth pattern.”
The first phase of the project calls for the demolition of four existing buildings to provide space for the new plant, which Emahiser said will serve as the company’s main production facility.
“In addition to bringing the bulk of our production under one roof, it will free up two of our biggest buildings for manufacturing of new product lines,” Emahiser said, noting that other buildings would still be used for component and chassis production.
The second phase of the project will be to consolidate purchasing, administrative, sales and engineering operations into the new building.
“Our current production facilities are limiting our ability to grow,” said CEO Jeff Miller. “This building is necessary to support our current and future product demands.”
