Cavco Industries Inc. has increased production of the Phoenix, Ariz.-based company’s line of recreational park trailers to meet rising demand.
According to a press release, Cavco is shifting operations at a 210,000-square-foot facility in Litchfield, Ariz., from manufactured housing to production of park models. Cavco has traditionally manufactured park models through its 50,000-square-foot factory in Phoenix.
“We needed the additional park model production capacity, and the Litchfield plant will enable us to increase our park model production by 300 to 500 units per year,” said Tim Gage, vice president of Cavco’s Specialty Division.
Strong park model sales also prompted Cavco to consider producing park models at a 120,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Seguin, Texas, to better accommodate consumers, campground operators and RV resort developers across the Sunbelt, Midwest and Eastern Seaboard.
“Building park models in Texas will make us more competitive because we’ll be able to cut our shipping costs for our customers in the eastern half of the United States,” Gage said. “The Texas facility would also enable us to better serve campground and RV resort developers with nationwide operations.”
While a specific timetable has yet to be determined, Gage said he anticipates Cavco to begin park model production at the Seguin facility in the near future.
