The developer of the huge Cedar Point amusement park, located along Lake Erie between Cleveland and Toledo, plans to spend $14 million on new amenities during 2001, including RV campsites.

The development will be called Lighthouse Point and it will feature 50 lakefront cottages, 10 cabins and 59 full-service RV campsites, according to Richard Kinzel, president and CEO of Cedar Fair LP, the owner-operator of Cedar Point and four other amusement parks.

Lighthouse Point will be designed to resemble a nautical New England town, Kinzel said.

In addition to Cedar Point, Cedar Fair owns and operates Knott’s Berry Farm in Southern California and four water parks.
