Cequent Performance Products (CPP) is kicking off the New Year by transitioning its Tow Ready branded products.

The Plymouth, Mich.-based supplier said in a press release that many Tow Ready items will transition into various other brands within the company, but the majority of the Tow Ready electrical products will align with Tekonsha. Tow Ready will be fully phased out and its products transitioned to their new brands in 2016.

“The decision to move the Tow Ready electrical products into the Tekonsha brand was a team effort and really an easy choice. Tekonsha has been providing premier brake controls for half a century and adding the vehicle connectivity intelligence to the Tekonsha lineup just makes sense,” said Product Manager Becky Briggs. “I’m very excited to say that Tekonsha will now offer the most complete line of factory designed, highly engineered, ‘smart’ electrical products in the trailer towing business.”

In addition to one of the most advanced brake controls on the market, including the Primus IQ, Prodigy P2 and P3, Prodigy RF and Voyager lines, the Tekonsha brand will now include Cequent’s ModuLite Trailer Light Power Modules, T-One Connectors, and brake control wiring harnesses.

“Part of what makes Cequent so great is that we continually look for ways to evolve and stay relevant in the current marketplace, and I have no doubt that this transition will only strengthen the foothold our Tekonsha brand has as a leader in the towing industry,” said Tom Benson, president, Cequent Performance Products.
