Riverside Travel Trailers announced today (Nov. 25) that China-based Beijing Dixing Taihe Investment Group has signed a letter of intent to purchase the company.
Mark Gerber, vice president of the Peru, Ind.-based manufacturer, welcomed the purchase as a way to fund the expected growth of the company. “The investment commitment by the Beijing Dixing Taihe will allow us to realize our growth potential from a small custom manufacturer to a major player in the towable marketplace,” Gerber said in a press release.
The Chinese group initially approached a number of towable manufacturers, including Riverside, during last year’s Louisville Show to build trailers that were durable enough to be used in extreme environments like the base of Mount Everest in Tibet. After an evaluation period, the company decided the Riverside product “best suited their needs.”
“During the negotiation and design process we were so impressed by the product and the company that we decided this would be an excellent investment opportunity,” said Michael Liu, chairman of Beijing Dixing Taihe. As part of the agreement, Riverside will be building and shipping trailers to several locations in China and Tibet.
“We will continue to manufacture high-quality, traditionally-built travel trailers in the U.S. market and then begin to expand our product offering to include price-point products, fifth-wheels and toy haulers,” said Jerry Sell, sales manager for Riverside. “From a marketing standpoint, the dealers will be able to tell their customers that these trailers are the same ones used by the mountain climbers at the 17,000-foot base camp elevation of Mount Everest.”
Dealers attending the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) National RV Trade Show, Dec. 2-4 in Louisville, Ky., will have the first opportunity to see and hear of the new company and its plan for growth both nationally and internationally from Liu and other key management personnel.
The Riverside Travel Trailer display is in Booth No. 5131 in the West Wing. For more information dealers may contact Jerry Sell at (765) 472-3920, ext. 305.
