Coachmen Industries Inc. has added an imported Freightliner Sprinter cab chassis floorplan to its Freelander Class C motorhome lineup that previously built only on Ford and Chevy cutaway platforms. “Fuel mileage has become a more important thing,” said Bill Martin, vice president of marketing for the Middlebury, Ind., manufacturer. The company estimates that the 11,030-pound GVWR, 25-foot Sprinter-based minimotorhome will get an estimated 17 to 19 mpg from its 154-hp Mercedes Benz 3.0 L V-6 diesel engine. The interior, Martin said, is rather traditional, geared for families. With 78 cubic feet of exterior storage, Freelander 2100 CB features 7-foot-high ceilings, U-shaped convertible dinettes that sit in the coach’s single slideout and benches that separates the galley countertops from the driver’s seat. Ford and Chevy floorplans will still to be offered in the Freelander lineup. MSRP: around $89,000.
